Smile How much to feed a Syrian?

Hi guys I feed my Syrian hamster 2 tbsp every time her bowl becomes empty (which is usually every 2-3 days) . The only reason I'm concerned about this though is that some people on YouTube say that you should only feed Syrians 1-2 teaspoons every time their bowl is empty.
She is happy and healthy, is not overweight and is very active.
Should I keep feeding her how much I do or should I lessen the amount? Thanks !

I'd say the way you are doing it is fine, I do similar. Do you feed fresh veggies every day?

Yes, I feed her either a small piece of romaine lettuce or a small piece of broccoli. About twice-three times a month she will have carrot as well

I put about a tablespoon out every 2 days. If there's any left in the bowl I empty it. They hoard most of it anyway I give veg every day - some people say every other day. Just a teeny tiny piece though, thumbnail sized, and rotate between broccoli, carrot, cucumber, cauliflower so he has something different every day. Variety is the spice of life Charlie gets half a nut once a week as well - half a brazil nut or pecan usually. Plus a Monkey nut once a week. The veg always gets eaten straight away. About once a week he'll get a tiny piece of apple or banana as well. You can also supplement with the odd piece of plain cooked chicken or beef too.

So each day he has his hamster mix in his bowl, his veg somewhere else, so he has to get off his backside and go and get it (I put it in his sputnik). And something extra - either a nut, or a small piece of cheese or fruit, or a healthy hamster treat, also put somewhere else so he has to go and get it Usually on his kabob which is at the other side of the cage.

The good thing about the veg each day is - I know he's been out when it's gone in the morning. I'd be worried if it wasn't.

I already feed veggies but haven't thought of hiding food - I must get a Sputnik! Lol . Wow, monkey nuts sound like a great idea! I think there's some in the Harry Hamster mix she's currently on so I'll pick them out and hide them for her. Thanks!

I bought these little scoops (InterDesign Small Scoops Tablespoon, Pack of 8: Amazon.co.uk: Kitchen & Home) ... The website says they hold a tablespoon but I haven't actually trested that. They do look tiny though! But Sweep gets 1 scoop in total - about half is scattered and the rest is in his bowl. Bowl gets filled again only when it's empty. I can post a photo of it later if I can find the memory card for my camera. No idea where that has got to!

I don't know for sure. I haven't really tested it. A whole, level, scoop fills about half of his bowl (which is this one - http://www.petsathome.com/shop/en/pe...mic-apple-bowl) but I don't put the whole scoopful (is that a word?!) in the bowl, so I can scatter some around

I was considering getting that bowl but Willow prefers her large red plastic tray. I'm not sure what brand it is or where we got it as we got it years ago but it's 1" high so easy for her to get into and around 3" long and 2" wide.
