I only bought one bag, even the Whimziees are expensive but I haven't really checked into this though? Next time will look for a better price or sale?
I can't believe people buy these mini chews for their small dogs. Must cost them a small fortune as dogs would surely go through a bag in no time!

I normally get the large ones for £1.50 but I normally buy them when they are on offer so I can get more for my money. But they work out cheaper than buying unhealthy sugary treats which are designed for hamsters.

I know if you have a dog they would cost a fortune after a while

Greenies are a lot less high quality and have a lot of unnecessary ingredients,where Whimzees have very few ingredients and none of which are questionable.
I know that my 15 pound dog is a heavy chewer,and I gave him a small toothbrush Whimzee.It took him no less than 10 minutes to destroy it entirely,which is quite good for a small chew!I would definitely suggest looking into larger sizes for heavy chewers though,even if they are small.Then again my dog does destroy all but the strongest toys in minutes,so that could impact things.

Greenies have a much more varied composition of mostly cereal and vegetable derivatives, a rather long-winded list of ingredients, whereas Whimzees are almost entirely potato starch, with a bit of added fibre, yeast and malt extract.

Whimzees are, in my experience, MUCH cheaper than Greenies, though I suppose that depends where you go. In our shop we sell the tiny toothbrushes for 20p each.

I believe the Greenies are ever so slightly harder though.


Have you tried the Whimzee's rice bone? The composition is almost the same as the rest of the range except the other ingredients are pushed aside for a 50% natural rice. They are much, much tougher than the other pieces in the range, and must better for dental wear. Still safe for them to chew, but they will have a far more difficult time chewing off big chunks. Even my dogs have to spend some time gnawing away at them.
Mrs Tansy ham was one heck of a chewer, but she would hold onto a rice bone for several weeks. She never actually finished one, I would just replace it with a fresh one every so often.

Ooh I'll have to look for one of the rice bones when I go to Petco next!The Whimzees in America are around 80 cents for small ones in Petco sold singly,so as usual Petco is overpriced.My dog will probably love that as a little present though,and it's not too expensive so it's not a huge problem at all no matter how much I have to pay for it.Still wouldn't be buying my actual hamster food at Petco though,but that's a different story in itself.

Wow I never knew the difference, thank you. My little dog would eat one in a day, but now has no teeth so cannot eat them. Some people must pay a hefty price.

Most people don't look and it's definitely not their fault at all!It's very similar to people being pushed into foods like Purina,Blue Buffalo,Iams,etc and being told they're great options.Bigger,well known brands tend to have higher pull and therefore get more recommendations,which isn't helping the consumer at all.

Yes, I agree totally! I just saw they were vegetarian and recommended so I thought I'd give it a try. Serves my right not to check the differences.

And then there's the technicality of dogs not being equipped to digest vegetables properly,which is why vegetarian is irrelevant when it comes to dogs.Even if I was vegetarian I would never be able to force my dog to not eat what it naturally would eat

Yes I agree, as a vegetarian dog owner I still feed meaty treats and meals. I feel fine giving them it, just not myself....
