I was at the store today and bought some baby carrots for my syrian hamster. I gave him one when he woke up tonight and he loves it! He was carrying it around the cage and nawing on it. How often can I give him these carrots? He really likes it, but I don't want it to become a health risk.
The main thing with veg is to give plenty of variety within the safe range, carrot is fine maybe a couple of times a week but do give other things too.

What Cypher said I'd add - don't give him a whole carrot, just a small cube of it - about 1cm square size I give. Then he can't get too much and also they try and pouch things that are too big for them to pouch and could damage their pouches.
I give our Syrian a bit of veg every day and put it in a separate place to his food bowl (so he has to go and get it and gives him a bit of a 'route' in his cage). So I tend to give broccoli, carrot, cucumber, cauliflower - as the main ones that are easy to keep in and kind of rotate it so he has something different each day. Just a thumbnail sized/1cm cube size piece each day. It's all they need. I use our hamster's small sputnik as a veg feeding bowl but it's hung quite low so he can reach it.
