Default Mysterious object in Burgess Dwarf Hamster mix

Hi there,

I was mixing up all my hamster food and discovered this strange object in the bag. It feels like clumped up powder and it is also very crumbly. Should I use the remainder of the food or throw it away?

Bye

That does look weird! I think if it was me I'd not use the rest of the bag. But don't chuck it - put the item in a small plastic bag, and send it along with the bag of food, back to the manufacturer with a letter of complaint. If they're anything like chocolate companies you'll get a load of free goodies in compensation! And an apology. It looks like a stone almost!

I agree with Serendipity, I use Burgess dwarf hamster harvest & I've never found anything looking like that.

Keep the food and the bag for now, because the chances are that they will wand the batch code or other information on the packet, just don't feed it to your hamsters.

I've had a feather and bugs in pet food before (separate occasions), and in both cases I had new food sent out to me.

I've used Burgess Dwarf Hamster Harvest for several years and I've never seen anything like that in there. It looks rather weird whatever it is.

I'm with the others, I wouldn't use the rest and it's definitely worth letting them know about it.

Let us know how you get on.

On first look it seems to me like a piece of corn that has went fungal. The shape looks like corn? Definitely email them the image and you should be offered a replacement or a voucher for a new bag. I see they have changed the image on the bag yet again. x

To me it is a biscuit that has went moldy and I would most definately NOT use any of that bag and seek a replacement bag as if one bit is moldy the whole bag is most likely bad, and Aflatoxin mold is highly toxic and able to kill a small mammal with just a lick of the moldy food
