Locust Bean Treats
I was sorting out some hamster stuff, clearing out a few bits and sorting out and organising all the different types of treats that I've got for May (thanks to Vectis Hamstery for the idea). I came across some locust bean treats that I'd bought at some time for Stitch and Meat. Neither of the boys liked them which is why they got left and whilst I wouldn't give them to May as they're probably quite old, has anyone's hamster ever liked them?

Re: Locust Bean Treats
My hammies have liked them! They got some in their Christmas crackers last year
Glad you've got your treats all organised. I must confess that my treat box is for display at educational events to encourage hamster owners to feed healthy treats to their hams. My own hamsters' treats are in jars!

Some of the stuff you had in your treat box looked good. I'm less keen on using commercially prepared treats these days so ideas for healthier alternatives are great.
I might try May with the locust bean treats as she's not keen on the commercially prepared yoghurt-type treats. I've seen them in Wilko's at a reasonable prices so I'll buy a new bag next time I go out.

Re: Locust Bean Treats
Mine like locust bean, a little piece will last them quite a while but they do enjoy a nibble!

Re: Locust Bean Treats
Ah, I remember buying those years ago - haven't seen any around, I'll be checking for them next time I'm in Wilko's!

Re: Locust Bean Treats
I offered May one yesterday and she just stared at me as if to say "what is this you're giving me" so I left it in her cage in case she wanted it later. It seems to be gone this morning so it can't have been that bad.
Stitch and Meat just used to throw them out of the way and they'd stay on the substrate until I picked them up.

Re: Locust Bean Treats
It's not the kind of thing mine grab immediately & munch on, they just tend to chew a little now & then, they always seem to disappear after a while anyway & Zephyr always hides hers somewhere safe so I guess she must rate it!

Re: Locust Bean Treats
The piece I gave May has definitely been eaten so I think that's probably a good sign.
