Re: What mix to feed?! Help!!
Most people feed syrians Harry Hamster food, what you can get will depend on which country you're in though.

Re: What mix to feed?! Help!!
It`s always a good idea to have your hamster`s diet planned well in advance of getting the hamster. If it`s fed on a particular mix in the pet shop, you need to be buying that and then if you want to change it to something better, you can do by mixing it with a new hamster food for a week. Or do as many of us do and buy a few different foods and mix them for more variety. Syrians can become bored with their food.
I would recommend Burgess Supahamster for a Syrian and perhaps look at Science Selective heart-shaped biscuits, which can be added to the Supahamster as these are complete biscuits and are also good if you need to feed something soft as they can be wetted.
Where are you buying your hamster from? If it`s Pets At Home, they sell Burgess hamster foods, just don`t buy the dwarf version as it has smaller millet seeds for dwarf hamsters and Syrians do seem to prefer the ordinary Supahamster. Many of these food mixes can also be bought online, so if you have that option, you may find a bigger variety than most pet shops stock. x

Burgess would be a good choice but you don't have to stick to one mix, you can use two or three (I use about four for my dwarfs!) & either mix them together or alternate them so your ham gets plenty of variety.

Re: What mix to feed?! Help!!
Both my Syrian and my Robo get Harry Hamster and to it I add Science Selective pellets, oats, mealworms, dog kibble, millet, dry pasta, extra pieces of nuts and some dried herbage stuff. They both like it and do well on it
