Default Feeding my dwarf hamster

Are hamsters in general picky eaters?

I would like to know how is the best way to feed a dwarf hamster?

First off, I bought 3 types of foods (National Geographics, Vitakraft VitaSmart, Hazel) they are mixed together with some parakeet food in it too. I read to take the crushed peas and corn or maize out. But then someone on here told me to keeps it. But is late until I make my next mix. I give Oxbow pellets too, I saw her eating at the beginning but I don't know how much of it she eats now.

So I just give half a table spoon but she always leave the same things behind. Do they end up eating everything if I leave the food 2 days?

How do you guys keep your hamsters healthy with diet?

Most hamsters will be picky eaters if you let them be! It's sounds as though you're doing ok with yours though given the limited food available where you are.
They will always leave some bits, especially the little pellet things if there are any in your mix, I wouldn't worry too much as long as she seems to be eating a fairly good selection.
It may have been me that said not to take the peas & corn out, it really is important that you don't take things out of the mix (unless it has dried fruit in it) as it all contributes to the overall protein, fat & fibre levels.

Mine have Harry Hamster as their base mix and then I add Science Selective pellets, oats, millet, dog kibble, mealworms, little bits of brazil nuts & almonds, alfalfa rings and dry pasta to it too - most of it gets emptied by the next evening, except the dark biscuit bits in HH which always get left! They get a tiny bit of fresh food daily too.

I leave the peas and maize in my mix personally.

I know some people are super strict about mixing various foods to achieve the supposed ideal levels of proteins, fats etc but I personally don't think you will go far wrong with offering a good quality hamster food as the base mix and then adding various hamster safe extras and fresh foods.

Yeah, it helps me to vary his diet a little more.

I like the mix I made for him. I dont want to get him any pickier lol

I'll try the extra like you do, Barley! Btw, I heard that Haxel and Harry is the same mix, jst different names.
