Science selctive, wont eat
My hamster was picking out her fave bits in her food and what erver i tried i could not get her to eat the other stuff, so i got her some science selective pellets, to make sure she is getting everything she needs, i am mixing it with her harry hamster, but she wont eat these either!!!!
They are quite expensive so should i sell them or what else can i try?? Because if i dont refil her bowl, she just hoards the food i use for taming

Re: Science selctive, wont eat
she will be eating some of it. Remember hamsters only eat a tiny amount so it is barely noticed. They should be allowed to hoard and should have a decent store as that is a good natural behavior to encourage and it helps them feel secure. When you clean out you should always replace some food in the store area so they don't feel everything has been 'stolen' as this is stressful.
I would mix a handful in each bag you use until it is all used up. If your hammy is a dwarf then crushing the 'hearts' up can help them eat it more easily.

Re: Science selctive, wont eat
I left the pellet in there for 5 days and it hasnt been touched, i know exactly how much she is eating as i weigh her food out, and i dont mind her hoarding but it is hard when she just restocks her hoard and continues to refuse food she doesnt like

Re: Science selctive, wont eat
Unfortunately you can't make them eat it. Just continue to offer a balanced diet of a good quality brand and if she is in good condition and is active and healthy then that is all we can hope for
Personally we feed a good handful every third day so they tend to eat more of everything rather than picking out only their favourites daily

Hamster's don't always eat all the food. Snow (my hamster) sometimes leaves out parts of her food. It's perfectly normal. Hamsters can be picky
