Default Whimzees!

I recently bought a mini whimzee type toothrbush chew for my 10month old robo boy, and he went through it within 3 days! He actually ended up hiding it in one of his huts. Are they toys that should be limited or given as a treat or are they similar to other chews (ie wooden, sisal, etc) in the way that they can stay in the cage whenever?

I'd not give them all the time if he's going through them that quickly, but others may feel differently

I leave them in. But then, mine can ignore it for two months before destroyinig it in a matter of days....or breaking off peices and hiding them for future chewing fests. I find whimzee pieces in the damndest places sometimes : shock:

You can also switch chews around if they seem to lose interest for a bit. It will be like a whole new toy again.

A monthly whimzee would be fine. I tend not to give them except when I do a cage clean.

Whimzees? I've never heard of them!
Where did you get them?

Three days?! I'm impressed lol! Those usually last my hybrids & Chinese weeks.
Going a bit over the top with them shouldn't do any harm as they are just basically compounded veg fibre but it would probably be an idea to limit it to one every few weeks.
I mostly use the eurostar ones with mine & just chop a small piece off so they can have a little bit more frequently.

they are actually dog chews, they are super hard and come in cute shapes like hedgehogs and alligators and you can find them in most petshops and amazon.

I tend to rotate them along with the rest of her chew toys. It also depends on how fast she's going through one. Sometimes she'll nibble on it and others she takes chunks out. If she's taking chunks out then I'll trade it out for a different toy. Then I'll bring it back in after a couple of days.

I found that my robo can get through the toothbrush a lot quicker than the crocodile. But he still tries! Like the others have said, maybe one a month but try them mini crocodiles to make it more of a challenge.

Thin Lizzy: Whimzees dog chews are also sometimes known over here as Antos Dog Chews. I get mine in a local indie pet shop, who sell them individually so I was able to try them out with the hams without getting stuck with a bag. I think others have found them online/in p@h?

This is something I was going to ask about. Charlie had a toothbrush and a crocodile one a few weeks ago. Both were whisked inside his house. I assumed they were still there, half chewed, but when I cleaned his cage last week - no sign of them! Can hammies actually chew and eat it completely? I thought it would be something that would just get chewed so far and not eaten.
