Question Can hamsters eat popcorn?

Not like the movie theater popcorn, but if I freshly popped the kernels myself with no salt or butter. If so, how often/how much can they have of it? Would it be okay for diabetic prone hamsters? Thanks!

I give mine popcorn sometimes but only a little bit. They're easy to break apart into hamster-sized servings. You might want to be careful with diabetes-prone hamsters but given the small amount you'd be giving and the fact that popped corn is mostly air I can't see it being a huge problem as long as they don't get it too often. Heck, even my chinchillas love popcorn! They are prone to diabetes but Pippa loves it so much she'll grab the rim of the bowl with her hands and wrestle it away from me to get her piece

Small amounts are fine except for maybe diabetes prone hams so long as it's plain with no salt or other additives, lots of people feed it to their hams.
I don't know about the US but here you can buy microwave popcorn for hams.

you can buy these at Petco or Petsmart.

I've got them for Toby, but I've never tried popping them. The package says you can microwave them to pop the kernels. I guess if you've got a diabetes prone or diabetic hamster you can just give a tiny bit of the corn by plucking some kernels off the dried cob and pop them in a bowl so you can keep the rest for a long time

Freya loves popcorn. I get the poppable one mentioned above. She loves it! So fun watching her try to move the whole thing into her larder, and then over the course of a week it slowly gets stripped down quite methodically outside in.

That's cool! How long do you pop it for? I hate getting the kernel shell/peel stuck between my teeth or on my throat. Do hamsters run the risk of getting a kernel stuck?

I've given my 2 popcorn and they loved it! Plain popcorn!
I have a question: I've seen Popcorn bars that you hang in cages for rabbits and guinea pigs.
I'm I right in thinking this isn't suitable for hamsters?

I think there's sometimes something (can't remember what exactly!) put in rabbit treats that isn't safe for hamsters. Generally with treats or any food item I just check the ingredients, if all are hamster safe then ok, if all the ingredients aren't listed I won't buy it anyway.
