Re: Can hamsters eat popcorn?
I usually pop it for 2 minutes. The instructions are on the side of the packet. I like to leave some unpopped too as Freya enjoys both.

Re: Can hamsters eat popcorn?
Does anyone know what is put in rabbit treats that isn't suitable for hamsters?
What's the ingredients I'm looking to avoid?

Re: Can hamsters eat popcorn?
This is what I found in the wiki section on safe foods
The one important thing to remember is to not buy treats specifically designed for rabbits. Rabbits can often carry a parasite called Coccidia and so most products manufactured for rabbits contain a drug to combat this parasite. Hamsters dont seem to be able to get coccidia or are very unlikely to come into contact with it and so dont need this drug. This drug will actually make them very sick.

Re: Can hamsters eat popcorn?
to my knowledge, hamsters can have a few kernels a week. this can actually be good for them! i mean, it is just essentially corn! the popcorn must be fully popped and COMPLETELY plain. NO unpopped kernels for them! ive read that if its the pet store brand corn that comes in small cobs specially meant for rodents, then those kernels are ok but regular unpopped kernels are a no no. diabetic prone hamsters can have them too! theyre a safe and fun treat for syrians and dwarves
EDIT: LOL i didnt notice this was an old thread. i came through google. oops!

Re: Can hamsters eat popcorn?
I made some plain popcorn today - for me and kept two pieces aside to try with Star and Twinkle. I suddenly thought that I used avocado oil to pop it in, would that be safe for hamsters as I don't think avocaodo itself is???
Next time I can try olive oil, or if anyone knows anything better to use.
Thanks.

i don’t see why not, since they can eat corn. but, don’t put on salt or butter, and don’t give them too much. although i’m not too experienced on this. i wouldn’t feed them it like every day either, if they are diabetic prone.
