I second not removing anything from the premixed hamster food. And besides, the sugars in sweet corn and sweet peas, called fructose, are readily digested by the body (hamster or human) and don't contribute to blood sugar levels. It's when you give the body anything with sucrose, aka cane sugar, that things in the blood sugar area start getting too high.

So, removing corn and peas from a feed mix is technically a moot point. LOL

Regarding making one's own mix, I wouldn't make one completely from scratch, like Teddy001 has said. That's way too dangerous a thing to do and can potentially harm a hamster more so than help it. Stick to commercial mixes like Harry/Hazel Hamster food and supplement that instead of going at it all from scratch.

Speaking of Hazel Hamster food, I too, would like to know what's so wrong with it. Other than being a bit higher priced, and maybe harder to find on shelves, I don't see anything wrong with the stuff.

It's hardly surprising your rescue was underweight, her last home was in a mess and the owners didn't care. Her low weight could be down to the stress of her last home.
I know that you'll have her weight back to normal in no time.
