Default Powdered Kelp for hamsters? Other treats?

I know that kelp has tons of nutrients, and I have some that I mix in our chicken feed, does anyone know if it's any good for hamsters? Just sprinkling some on their food? I use the Starwest Botanicals Organic Kelp Powder from Amazon.
On the topic of giving stuff you find in chicken feed, does anyone know if hard and soft whole wheat can be given as treats?

It would seem to be better to stick with what's been tried before, but I just don't see anything bad with them. What are some treats I can give the fuzzies in the grain and wheat category? My babies aren't find of vegetables I'm afraid.
