Default Not hoarding her food

Since I cleaned out her cage, Melody hasn't been storing her food in her nest. She'll store the odd pellet, and always store her treats, but that's about it. She'll go to her food bowl sometimes but won't pouch anything and I can't see her eating anything.

Her teeth look fine, she's acting the same and she looks the same.

She has quite a few treats. She's got a carrot cottage, log thing with sticky seeds inside, and a star shape seed stick thing. She gets quite a few other treats as well.

Oh, and she has a millet spray I can't find..

Could I be feeding her too many treats so she's not interested in her normal mix?

Take the treats out for a day or two and then see what happens when you put her pellets in

I agree with Sirius, stop all treat giving for a few days, and her eating should pick back up. If she still doesn't eat after a few days, there may be something medical going on, so keep that in mind.

Barring a medical condition, hamsters won't let themselves starve if there's food around, but it MAY take a couple days of hunger striking to get her to eat (because she'll be hoping you'll give in and give her treats ) don't worry if that happens, unless you spot other possible signs of illness (lethargy, not drinking, bloating, the usual suspects)

I think the odds of a medical problem are very very low though, she probably just likes sugar a tad too much xD

Thanks NiceCrocs. I have removed all of the sugary treats I can find in her cage. I don't think it'd be something medical as I'm sure she's eating something (a couple of shells laying around, etc).

Her food bowl is looking a little emptier. I really hope she's eating it. Will update the thread if anything happens

If it does happen to be the treats, I'll start only putting one in every week for a couple of days only, rather than all of them permanently.
