Normal for a Syrian to LOVE Mealworms?
As the title says, is it normal for a Syrian ham to really really enjoy mealworms? I've heard some people say their Syrians flinch at mealworms, while my Sariah om noms down on a mealworm twice a day. I figure anymore than two mealworms are too much protein.

My Syrian goes crazy for them. Sometimes Ill give them to her head first and wiggly and she grabs them with her little paws and chomps the heads off- and sometimes I'll hold the container for her and she'll dig through the flakes in there, find one, and prop her little teeny elbows on the edge of the cup while she munches. It's really cute.

I tried the freeze dried with Mylo & he wanted no parts of them. I even left them in the cage overnight. First thing he ever refused without a taste.

I have a dwarf hamster food for my robo which has mealworms in it, which he ignores so I pick the mealworms out to feed to my Syrian who loves them. Hamsters - never predictable

Re: Normal for a Syrian to LOVE Mealworms?
All mine in the past seemed to like the dried meal worms, but I suppose it depends on their personal taste. Melvin will eat them but they're not his favourite. I wouldn't want to give him live ones - it would gross me out too much! Plus I've managed to drop the box of dried ones before - what if you dropped a box of wiggly live ones?! Not nice lol

Both my girls adore the freeze dried mealworms, I hide a few around their cages every day
Mousenibbles, it sounds like your feeding live ones, I've heard they can bite so please take care
I'm too squeamish to ever consider feeding live foods, even the thought sends shivers down the spine lol

My Syrian will only nibble on them. My dwarf loves them.

Re: Normal for a Syrian to LOVE Mealworms?
If I even HEARD of a live mealworm BITING my hammy? That mealworm is toast!!!!
Ahem....actually I think my hammies can deal with it. On the off chance they can't, I'll pop the little worms head off myself, and we'll throw a themed party about disembowling our enemies!!!!!
Alas, live mealworms are not an option here. Nor are freeze dried it seems. Then again, with my luck, I'd have two hammies running away from worms.....

I heard of biting too, but I give her the smallest ones I can get at the store, and she eats the heads first thing, so we've never had any trouble!
