I didn't know you could give popcorn to hamsters. Is it popcorn in general or a specific taste of popcorn?

I buy the Indian corn, for hamsters and birds. They are small corn on the cob sized, and you can pop the corn right on the cob. The corn will pop off the cob, and- you have pop corn. I put the corn on the cob in a small microwaveable dish, cover the dish with a paper towel so the popped corn doesn't make a mess in the microwave- and it's done- lol. Makes a lot of popped corn, too.. You can use regular popcorn, as long as it's plain, no butter or salt. Teddy is hit and miss with pop corn, sometimes she devours it, then other times, she snubs her nose up, and won't eat it. Lol.

I'd stick with your mix, Dave.

For me, I like it that the hamsters can naturally forage through their food and select what they fancy at a particular moment, just as some days we may fancy one food rather than another.

I think overall with a mix the hamster gets what nutrition it needs. I've had many long lived dwarf hamsters and I've only ever used a mix, never the 'all in one' biscuit.

My two Syrians get:

1 tbsp burgess hamster harvest
1/2 tbsp ratrations Syrian with Apple
2 supreme science selective pellets

Both of then adore the science selective pellets and they beg for more before having the rest of their mix. When phoebe was a bit under the weather they were all she would eat, and I liked that I knew she was getting everything she needed in her food even though she wasn't eating much.

I wouldn't solely feed pellets to hamsters though

I tried Dolly on the p@h pellets as I was worried that she was leaving all the nutritional bits but she wasn't a fan. Nor was I to be honest, it looked too "clinical". I'd rather her be on something more varied like Harry hamster and keep her diet varied with other bits of treats

I feed a mix, but add pellets, because my hamsters never eat everything. So I thinking at least with the added pellets, I can be sure they get everything. The pellets I feed are science selective and I recently tried Mr Johnson Advanced hamster and gerbil food. Cypher, both my hamsters did not want to try science selective for the fist times, but I just keep putting it in and suddenly they started eating it (happened with both my dwarfs). the Mr Johnson is only liked by one of my dwarfs, my other one does not touch it. the don't go crazy for them though and will usually eat them last.
