I wouldn't have thought so, if they ingested it they could possibly get too much calcium from it & I'm guessing sharp bits could break of when they chew it which might harm them.

I always wondered this too. The small petshop I bought a few hamsters from always has cuttlefish in with them.

I've given my hams cuttlefish to keep them occupied as have others I know with no problems. Some didn't like it or do anything with it, others did chew it. All my hams have dog biscuits whereas the cuttlefish as more a now and then thing when I have some.

I've given it to my two, it's something I always have in the house for the birds so I tried the hammies with it I cut off the hard shell type back so there were no sharp bits to cut pouches or anything but it sits in the cages being totally ignored, neither of the hammies has ever shown any interest in it at all.
