Default Freezing treat rolls

Ok, having read a few stories about how hamsters got mites from hay or wood, I have followed the freezing for 24 hours thing before putting anything made of hay or wood in Charlie's cage. But now have this hay treat roll thing and not sure if it is safe to freeze it or not - it has shrimps, meal worms and bits of grasshopper (ugh!) in it - everything else seems safe to freeze and I assume if the shrimps, mealworms and grasshopper are dried they are also safe to freeze, but maybe they're not dried! Any thoughts on this. Oh and I think there is egg in it as well. I know with human food, anything frozen like fish or egg needs cooking after defrosting, so wouldn't want to freeze it and then give him food poisoning! Wish I had never bought the blooming thing now!

I didn't think freezing everything like this was necessary, I know food can have weevil things in it but I think wood is fine so your treat should be.
This might be helpful for another opinion

Thanks cypher. Was only freezing wood things because something I ordered a while ago looked like it had woodworm! And I read of someone who had a toy with woodworm in it. And someone else who had a grass nest and said their hamster got mites from it. So I thought anything grassy or hayey (is that a word?!) I had better freeze. But obviously hamster treats don't come with freezing instructions -like do not freeze or reheat after freezing. Couldn't face mites that's all - I maybe should have got a different kind of treat.

Now you're making my skin crawl!
I had a treat that was either the same or similar to yours that had gone mouldy & I've had those horrible things in a bag of food once but otherwise it sounds like I've been lucky!
