Not tried the rotostak food. I have in mind if the cages are crap, the food is too. Unless they have got something right. lol. Dried apricot would be full of sugar, wouldnt it ?.
I dont know. None of them liked raisins, where as chinchilla's loved them.

As mentioned in a different thread that could be down to the humble raisin looking similar to chinchilla poo.....
Oh and also, I have given my hams Shreddies before. The plain type not the frosted. They're basically just All Bran remodelled right?
My hams love Shreddies

Re: All Bran
Shreddies is just like all bran I think, It is wheat based but knitted by grandma's. I seen the adverts. lol. Mine wont eat shreddies. Have not tried Marvin on them as I never had him when we had shreddies. I have yet to try cheerios. They do eat oat flakes though and I think they prefer the made up porrige.

Re: All Bran
Both dried banana & dried apricot are very high in sugar, way too much for a hybrid I would have thought, same goes for drop type pet treats, they mostly have added sugar. With a hybrid you really do need to read all the ingredients on things & even some food on the safe list are only for syrians.
I think shreddies or shredded wheat are ok but I'm not sure, oats are really good dry or porridge.
tbh I think if they don't like treats we're often offering them something they don't need, my really like to be hand fed their normal food as a "treat" & they go mad for a mix of small seeds I make up for them.
I think with Marvin you probably need to be a bit extra careful as his rough start in life will have already have put a lot of stress on his little body & his nutritional needs, for the right things, will be higher.
Hope that doesn't make me sound like too much of a kill joy! I'm not anti treat at all but just think we have to be really careful with our little hybrids.

I know what you mean. With him still building up his body, I have to be careful what I give him in treats as I could be doing more harm if I rush things too quickly.
I was rushed in hospital and had to have a life saving operation. I was in for 3 weeks. 2 1/2 weeks, I had not eaten a thing and when I was allowed something to eat, I ordered a nice dinner and one fork full and I was full. I could not manage and a nutritionist told me I had to try and eat veg so I got some nutrition in me as I had lost a lot of weight and needed building back up again.
I suppose it is the same for Marvin. I tried some dried cat food last night. This morning, most of it has gone. Is this supposed to be given as a treat or with his normal food.

Re: All Bran
With Marvin I think you could give him a couple of pieces of the dry cat food every day along with his normal food, I guess it's a bit like giving them that complete all in one hamster pellet stuff that most of them seem to dislike so much!
Have you weighed him again to see how he's doing?

Re: All Bran
I have just weighed him. He is now 54g. From now on, his weight should stabilize and be a bit slower at gaining, I would think. he has done very well. He was 37g two weeks ago. 17g in two weeks. Not bad at all.

Re: All Bran
If he is one year old, he needs to be around 60g, I think. If he is younger than Screech, he is about bang on target.
