The crown is just a small piece of the florets. Usually you can find it beside broccoli in the store.

I've never seen any but I'll take another look.

Do you know if Beanie can eat green beans or peas? I'm thinking I'll get veggies that are already frozen, so I'll check there.

Are Chinese diabetic prone? Even so, I would have thought even for a diabetic prone hamster, it's still everything in moderation. He could maybe just have sweeter veg (peas and carrots, etc.) on a rare occasion. Like once a month or so, in very small quantities. Neither are as sweet as fruit.
Then again, I've never owned a diabetic prone hamster and I wouldn't like you to do this if other, more experienced people didn't think it was a good idea.

Oh that might work! As for Beanie, I have no idea. We don't have Chinese hamsters up here so I'm not familiar with their needs. Vectis should be able to help you.

They are but I believe they have another dietary restriction that limits what they can eat.

I did some Googling and it seems they can have green beans and not peas. Yes, they are diabetic prone.

The peas info is conflicting so I guess I probably do it sparingly but not regularly.

There are usually scraps in the bottom of the shelf and most veg stores will let you have a little bit for nothing if you ask Frozen stuff doesn't stay fresh so long after it has been defrosted I've found.
Unless your Chinese shows signs of diabetes it is fine to give a pea or bean so don't worry about that.

That's what I do Souffle. When I go to the grocery store, they let me take as much of the veggies that's none sellable, for my hammy's.. It's basically, scraps, of this and that, but it's fresh, and not a ton, that goes to waste. I've tried freezing broccoli and maybe I didn't dry it off, too good, but mine was a bit "soggy" after it defrosted.
Emsy, I'm no sure if where you are, there's "farmers markets"? Here they are privately owned, and I've gotten the one down my street to save what they can't sell, and will be thrown away.

I've never thought of doing that! I'll have to ask next time I go in.

Hekomi, it's thrown away- the bits and pieces that falls off or broken.
