i don't know how to treat my hamster!
Hi, I'm just new here I've just got my first hamster since i was a child and i have no idea what sorts of treats i should be feeding him and how much! I've bought apple, chocolate, and yogurt drops for him which he seems to love but I'm scared I'm giving him to many. it says on the packet that i shouldn't feed him more than five treats a day so usually he'll have 4-5 chocolate one day then 4-5 yogurt the next day. although that should be fine going by what it says on the packet I'm nervous in case it is too much? i don't want him to get ill also I've read that sunflower seeds are good for the taming process because you can give him a little more but again I'm not entirely sure how much is too much. it would be good if there was something other than his regular food that i could give him a little more of because it does help with the taming process.
any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks

What type of hamster is he? There are five species: Syrian, Campbell's, Winter White, Hybrid, and Chinese. Depending on his breed, care will be very different.
If your little one is a dwarf, I would recommend not feeding them any sugar if you can help it.

Er... I'd call the five species kept as pets Syrian, Campbells, Winter White, Chinese and Roborovski...
Hybrids are just a cross between two of the species (Campbells and Winter White). And not all dwarf hams are prone to diabetes - absolutely 100% pure bred winter whites and roborovskis aren't diabetes prone at all
The wiki has a great list of ham treats on it though

Awww, don't worry about any mistakes you made before you knew better. Before I signed up and began reading posts, I had two dwarves in a modular cage the size of my laptop! o.o I feel so bad now when I remember.
Now my baby (sadly, my hammy Morgan died after a medical procedure) is happy and healthy in a huge cage ^^ Also, I have two more hams taking up every square inch of floor space in my room :P
