A small amount of ground beef that the fat has been strained off of is usually listed as an okay food.

I a super excited to try my hammies with live mealworms later on tonight

Try to get the young live mealworms around 15mm long. If kept clean by removing skins and changing the oatmeal they last longer if kept cool. When they get too big throw them out for the birds. I get the live mini mealworms from Wiggly Wigglers but more expensive than you would pay at a petshop.

I had to deal with mealworms when i owned a lizzard... i dont want to get back into that. yuck, along with Crickets.
I gave her celery and plain chicken the other day and she liked it.
I think that is the only meat i will give her.

Cannibalism is just something that happens, no matter the diet. If a dead hamster is in the same space as a living one, instinct tells the living one to "get rid of the evidence," so to speak, so it doesn't draw predators, disease, or various other pests.
I've not seen any evidence of a hamster killing expressly to cannibalize another's corpse (correct me if I'm wrong, experts!).

I think probably the only time you'll come across cannibalism is when they eat their babies. There are different reasons put forward including not enough protein in their diet. I think the two most likely reasons are that the babies have resulted in overcrowding or the babies have been handled and bear a foreign scent.
