Default Linseeds and Hemp Seeds

I brought 2 bags of these today as i was suggested by someone on my lovely facebook group for my old man poor coat.
My question is, how much should be given as a treat/ how often?
Or can it be added to everyones food mixes?

They're fine to be eaten whenever I think. They're a big part of the diet our diabetic ham and his cagemate are on - his cagemate isn't diabetic but seems ok on it.

Hi Susie. Linseeds are good for the coat apparently, but they can also be a laxative! So a sprinkle into the normal diet would be fine. Linseed are normally found in Canary seed mixes sold for birds. I also feed Hemp seeds as treats as they have a nutty flavour and a source of protein. Again, the amount you feed depends on the hamster. I usually just add some to the diet daily or leave a few scattered around for my wee robo to find around his cage!

Thanks Kyrill & racinghamster I have added the linseeds/hemp seeds to my syrian foods. My dwarf food already has linseeds in it but not hemp - but then the dwarf food has Dari seeds & canary seeds.. so sufficient i think.
I had my boy snowy wake up a short while ago, and i tested him with the seeds and he went crazy for them!
