Can hammys have any sort of milk?

I would nt think so it can cause problems when left to long I would think it would cause upset tummy I will check the food list.

I don't think it's really good for them. They only drink water once they're weaned from their mothers. How cows milk might affect them, I don't know.

i read in a hamster care book that they do like milk (not too much of) and it said that it is best to give slightly sour?

soya milk is better as some hamsters can react badly to lactose.
Or half cows milk half water

Once weaned, hamsters will not have the enzyme that lets them digest lactose (milk sugar) in milk so I wouldn't advise giving them milk or dairy in general.

Mine have porridge made with puppy milk or rice milk.

Hi Lougarry, are you talking about healthy hammies? Normally I don't use soft foods unless the hammy is sick or elderly.

hammies can have porridge, a little bread soaked in milk etc as occasisonal treats. Mine have mash made with milk when im havin a roast din

Mine like porridge as a treat regularly. I started with the babies, but they all like it.
