Default How many a day

How many dried Mealworms can I give my hamsters a day? Both of them love them.

Personally I don't tend to give Sooty more than a couple a week as they are high in protein. Don't know about other people though!

Bozly the dwarf hamster gets 6 or so of the "small" mealworms (between regular size and mini) each day. They're live but I cut the heads off.

He has a ferris wheel with 6 buckets/seats so I put one in each and he spins the wheel like he's on The Price is Right until he retrieves them all.

We must see a video of this!!!!

I would also only feed a couple of dried mealworms a week as I worry about the risk of impaction (reported in hedgehogs - may not be an issue in hamsters but I don't want to take the risk) but more of the live ones.

I love the idea of the ferris wheel. The vision in my head just thinking about it has me cracking up laughing. You must get a video of that and share it!!

Thanks, he thinks he's cute too. Usually he gives the wheel way more impressive spins, but I filmed him yesterday just after I woke him up from a nap.
