I would not recommend bird seed for your Hammies,
mainly because you are not sure about the exact nutrition you are giving them.

Pretty much every packet of bird seed I've seen states its composition and nutritional analysis on the packet, so you can very easily work out the exact nutrition your hammie is getting

I use 50% bird seed 50% commercial food as a base mix, by selecting the bird mix with the % I want etc my mix is % wise ideal IMHO for the hams it is being fed to.

I just don't know what percentages stuff is meant to have so since ham foods all have different ones I'm a bit confused about them to be honest. I know a few who've added bird seed and other stuff for a while and its never done them/their hams any harm though
