Default Corn in Basic mix

I've just opened a new batch of ratrations dwarf mix without fish and discovered weevils (yay!). I had a look on here about what to do and discovered it was a problem with the Syrian mix because of the flaked corn (before it was fixed). Which made me realise my dwarf mix for diabetes prone hams is full of flaked corn. I double-checked the ingredients list and it isn't on there. So I've contacted ratrations.
Has anyone else had this problem? (And please do check your batches).

I've not opened mine, but have just looked through the bag of the mix i received a week ago - and cant see any bugs.

There are some yellow flakey bits, but it doesn't quite look like flaked corn, and it is in the picture on their website - i thought it was flaked soya - so now i'm confused lol

Me too now you've said that. I've compared it to the flaked corn in HH and can't tell the difference.
I thought flaked soya was the thing that looked like a brown oval grain squashed.

From looking at ratrations pics the brown squashed thing I thought was soya is rye.
The 'corn' is probably soya. They are scarily similar and I couldn't tell the difference between it an the corn in my HH and Wilkos mix

The weevils shouldn't be in there with no corn, so I'll have to see what ratrations say.

they are pretty similar, i just remember being curious about which bit was which and searching it all when we first switched over, the only difference i see is the soya is usually more rounded.... i think lol!

but yeah if there is no corn..... why are there weevils????

The weevils are really obvious right? lol i'm worried now - i really don't like unexpected bugs.... eek

They're not that obvious. They're small and black and tuck their legs in.
It was a fluke that I saw one and then I started finding more. It was like Where's Wally.
They have a satisfying crunch when you squish them though

As far as I know if they are Grain weevils they can eat any sort of grain. You need to address this issue with Ratrations though it is possible that any part of the mix migt be contaminated so there could be trouble tracking it down. The problem can occur in any grain based mix including human foods like muisli etc. Other people have been advised to freeze the packs to kill the beesties so this might be the best thing to do in case they get in to other packs or mixes you may have in store.
Maybe you could send them off to be identified? There is a free ID service here! Factsheets Grain Weevils

I've got some in the freezer (taped up) and some in the shed. There isn't room around all the Christmas food >.<
All the bugs I encountered are now throroughly splatted
But I could always dig out a frozen one to send off if needs be.
