We don't cook it either and the hammies love it. It is a good protein source for growing hams. We cut it up into sugar cube sized blocks then freeze it. You can then defrost one cube per hammy when you need it and it saves waste.

Don't worry Joe, glad to help

Thanks souffle - think I'll do that! We have a few blocks in the freezer frozen for us and a few in the fridge too - I'll cut one up and then freeze it I think. Hope the hammies like it

Just out of interest, how much tofu do you chaps serve?

I'm still experimenting with portion sizes - not that it's always that easy to slice up!

I was very unsure on how much to give them..they both got about a 2cm cube each. I don't know if that was too much, but they ate it all!

I found it really easy to cut up?

I sometimes grill it for them they like it like that. also you can get some with seeds in and nuts and stuff, which I like .

I know tofu might seem boring to some people, but if you prepare it right it tastes creamy. and also talifun tofu is the greatest!

I was about to ask about tofu, I'm glad I've found a topic.

you can also give your hamsters soya beans I guess.

oh and there seems to be two types of tofu in most super markets, the one in the fridge is often firm tofu, whereas the one on the shelvs is soft tofu which can be used as an egg replacement.
(you don't want to give your hams marinated tofu as this is very high in salt!)

you can also mix tofu and egg together, like scarmbled egg. they like this.

and you can soak it in a bit of milk for them over night if you wanted.

It is very high in protien anyway.
