I haven't seen any of those treat sticks (at least in the United States) that did NOT contain cane molasses or some other sugary ingredients to hold all of the contents together, even the veggie or herb ones. I wouldn't be as concerned with Syrians, but I have never given one of these treat sticks to my dwarfs. If yours does not contain any sugary ingredients, I wouldn't mind knowing what brand it is (if it's accessible in the United States).

I supply a fresh seed mix every 2-3 days. I feed my Campbell's Russian Dwarf Hamsters the Ecotrition Organic Blend with the corn removed, some Oxbow added, along with a MODERATE amount of sunflower seeds, millet, oats, and mealworms. Sometimes I add dried herbs. They also have access to Oxbow Botanical Hay, which is sprinkled throughout their bins and provides a healthy source of fiber (I think it smells nice, too). I use a special homemade blend for pregnant or nursing females, and growing pups. The only "treats" my hams get are fresh vegetables a few times a week, and the occasional organic baby food.

I don't really have a consistent schedule. Every 2-3 days on average I'll replace the old food. Whenever I do a full cleaning of their bins, I replace the old food. If the food is soiled or a water bottle leaks over it, I replace the old food (generally I put a soap dish with Chinchilla sand beneath the water bottle to catch any water that might drip from the nozzle, but sometimes the bottle gets moved near the food dish). If the bin contains a larger colony, I may to refill the food more frequently as opposed to a bin containing only 1-2 hams.

I like this method. I try to measure a certain amount based on the number of hams in each bin so that I don't throw away or waste food!

I change their food every night when they come out which is normally about 1 or 2 am but I only give enough for 24 hours so they can't be picky. every night they get a different treat, dif veggie. just something extra and a few rodent blacks. once a week they get mealworms if I have extra (just starting my little breeding tub thing so not always extra) and they get millet and stuff like that once a week after they get cleaned out.

I'm like Vectis because I feed my lot every 2-3 days with their mix, but they also get treats every other day, occasionally some baby food and what I call a special supplement which is a batch of dried herbs, dried fruit and other things for small animals which they get a bit of every two weeks (so they don't start to prefer tat instead of their mix)

I just put an handful in when I have time and remember, same with the treats. I think I overfeed them though 'cos when I do my full cage clean every two weeks I find a big stash in their houses.

I feed my hams like I used to feed my dogs. I feed them at 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. I change their hard food dish or throw it throughout the cage every other day, and change their fresh food dish twice a day. They also have little hideout houses with hard food and nuggets in them. So wherever they hunt, they can find food.

Now, I have one Syrian and one dwarf. My Syrian will take some of his food (nuggets, bones, peanuts) and put them in the food dish that holds the fresh food that I will change. I think he is sharing them with me.

This way, I feel they can find whatever they feel their bodies need. Mine seem to stay healthy.

Fur-nando gets a palmful or two of food sprinkled in most nights - a mix of Bearphar Care Plus and P@H Premium Museli, usually after playtime. I sprinkle it all about to keep him busy foraging. Once a week he gets a few dried leaves and apple twigs popped in, which he can't be bothered with. Most nights he gets something fresh - salad leaves, herbs, blueberries, etc, during playtime. He just eats as much as he fancies, and scurries off. He is a terrific selective eater. I go for a few days trying not to feed him to encourage him to try parts of his foods he leaves (easily 50% of it ) but he would rather go without, so I've given up and just let him be a spoilt prima donna. He gets things like monkey nuts in shells, walnuts in shells etc every other day or so, and 'big treats' like the dangly nut bars / carrot filled logs every few weeks, or when I feel guilty about going to bed early / shorter playtime haha. He doesn't tend to bother with them too much though.
Every two weeks he gets a specific dog biscuit (t/d® Canine Dental Health Small Bites - Dry) that the vet said I need to give him every fortnight. I only have a couple left, but have realised the ingredients are utter poo, so I'm after tips on dog biscuits with quality ingredients and high protein.
I am also after some not-bitter yeast to try and help him with his thinning coat.

Darla gets a teaspoon of seed mix every evening, and Annie gets a table spoon at the same time. Plus a treat (or two or three for Annie if she is looking cute) every other day or so, something like a mealworm, yoghurt drop, dried fruit, peanut, biscuity thing, herbs, or a bit of veg (Darla isn't a fan of veg but Annie seems to eat anything )

ETA: I feed Silver's mixes, basic dwarf for Darla, basic Syrian for Annie, and it all gets eaten -- the food store that gets cleaned out qeekly is made up of all the ingredients of the mix
