Cheese
What cheese do you give to your hamsters? Belle is eyeing up my sandwich and wondered if I could give her a little bit of cheese (freshly cut not from the sandwich as she wouldn't like it with the sauce etc on!) Anyway, I have goat's cheese in my fridge. It's not a soft one. I got the hard one s it's in a block like cheddar is. Can she have this? And also for future reference which cheese can I give her? Thanks

Re: Cheese
I've offered Hamburglar just standard cheddar before, in tiny portions. also off my cheese on toast (but after it's not so squidgy anymore, in case he pouches it).

Re: Cheese
Apparently goat's cheese is easier on our stomachs ... Which is why some people who can't have cow's milk or products with cow's milk in can have it ... So I'd assume then that goat. cheese would be safe for hamsters?

Re: Cheese
In small potions, they can probably have goat cheese. I've given Ivy a bit of provolone before.

Re: Cheese
Take care, though, as some goats' cheeses are unpasteurised and may harbour bugs (which is why pregnant women are advised to avoid it).

Re: Cheese
My lot have only had mature cheddar. I have some mild in the fridge so I will try them with it tonight and see what they think

Re: Cheese
Slightly off topic - does anyones ham make a 'I've just eaten something sour' face when they have cheese? Luna does...
