Default Not quite sure if my little guy is eating enough

Being that I work in a pet store I never really have noticed how much one hamsters does/should eat a day, or the amount of water they should be drinking. At the store they get totally fresh food every other day, and refills of pet block and seed as needed between (and fresh water 2x day). Now that I have a ham of my own I don't know how much he should be eating/drinking, or if he is eating/drinking that much.

He is on Kaytee Forti-Diet Seed and Mineral Block. Any suggestions for a better food (I know Silver's is best but I just can't spend the $15 on shipping for a 1kg bag of noms for him) and how much he needs to be eating/drinking?

He's not losing weight or anything; he is super precocious, active, sweet and happy!

Thanks from me and pavel!

I feed one teaspoon a day of hamster mix for each dwarf. Hammy's don't seem to drink much water. Just make sure the water bottle is working properly & that is fine.

Food % you need to find the food with the closest to

Protein 19%
Fat 6%
Fibre 8%

Thanks, Silver! I suppose I'm off on an adventure to try and find a good food, or at least a few I can mix and such to meet my little ham's needs. Right now the %s in his food are a little off, even with the mineral block.

And while I'm out I'm going to grab a less-squeaky wheel and some material for a hammy playpen!

Let's hope I find a good food for the little stinker.

I wish you luck on your travel's to find the best mix. It's a pitty we can not try out the wheels in the shop before buying them!
