Default Tasty Hammy Recipes!! Add more!

HEALTHY OATS PORRIDGE WITH EXTRA GOODIES

Soy milk

Oats Porridge.

Organic solid honey (a small amount only due to high sugar content)

a small dollop of peanut butter

Banana Mush

banana

porridge oats

honey (small amount)

Mash up together and serve

Toilet Paper Peanut Butter Crunch

Toilet Paper rolls

Peanut Butter

Small seed from hamster mix

Lightly smear peanut butter on toilet paper roll, thin enough that you can see the paper beneath. Then roll in seeds to cover.

Simple, quick and they love it!

Berry Nice Cookies for Hamsters (and u 2)

1 cup powdered milk

1 cup wheat germ

1/2 cup rolled oats/ porridge oats

1 jar of berry baby food (I used Organix's Apple, Strawberry & blueberry compote. it's apple puree, water, blueberry puree, strawberry puree and ground rice)

1 egg white

enough water to moisten the mix, I try to swirl a little water in the babyfood jar, you shouldn't need more than half a jar.

measure out everything into a bowl and really mix it together good. If you're mixing by hand, rub and press down the mixture with the back of your spoon while mixing.

This makes a very thick and solid dough mixture but it will still be sticky. Roll the mixture into tiny little balls (half an inch or so?) and flatten them. Place on a lightly greased baking sheet and bake at 175C(non fan oven) or somewhere inbetween 175 and 150C for a fan oven. These don't take long to bake because they're so small - only bake them until they go a light brown around the outer edges. This took about 8 minutes in my oven to give you an idea of the length of time.

Milk Treats

1/2 cup powdered milk

1/2 a jar of baby juice (I used apple, 125ml jar in the babycare section of your supermarket)

1 tsp corn starch

mix the juice and milk together and cook over medium heat while stirring constantly, scraping the bottom of the pan well as this is where it goes solid fastest. When it becomes a paste, remove from heat, add the cornstarch and rub it into the paste with the back of your stirring spoon. Return to low heat/flame and continue to cook and stir for 3 more minutes. Pack the crumbly mix into a block/rectangular flattish shape and leave to dry and solidify for an hour or so. break into whatever kinds of shapes you can manage without making them completely crumble to pieces. Store in an airtight container.

I saw these on another forum and thought it would be a good idea to put it as a thread on this forum! its always good to treat your hammy!

What nifty recipes!

I must say say though, a few years ago, I had the TP roll, PB, and hamster mix as an idea. I actually submitted it as a project on another site back then.
