Re: How do you feed your hamsters?
I feed dwarves 1 tablespoon of food per day and my syrian gets 1 tablespoon. I scatter feed to give them something to do and they seem to enjoy finding the food.
My lot only get a chocolate/yoghurt drop once a week.

She won't necessarily get fat from the treats, it's the more the effects of sugar - which aren't always visible from the outside.

Re: How do you feed your hamsters?
I give Ruby a big tabkespoon every few days when she has almost nothing left. She dosen't store food unless I scatter it of hand feed it and I prefer seeing how much she has wihout destroying her nest! Ruby gets either a choc, verry or yogurt drop once a week as a special treat and seeds, nuts, banana chips and herbs a few times a week as they are a bit healthier

Re: How do you feed your hamsters?
I feed my girls a bit of food every 2-3 days. I wait to see if they've eaten at least most of their food. They usually store their food where I can see it without bugging it so it's not a big deal. This keeps their stores from getting too big, which allows them to get picky. They get fresh foods of some sort every day or every other day too.

Re: How do you feed your hamsters?
I give approx 1 tablespoon of food per day, but since my hams are fairly good about eating a variety of the food mix I don't stress over excess food stores. I figure it's their nature to horde and I want them to be happy.
I use a dish for feeding. Several of my hams have been OCD about keeping all of their food items in the food dish and all non food chew items in a different corner so it's a habit of mine. But sometimes for fun I scatter their dinner across my bed and let them have some fun finding it

Re: How do you feed your hamsters?
I've always set the food in their dish and they either eat it straight from there or put some in their pouches and hide it somewhere in the cage :P

Luna's large bowl is her food store (except for a small one in her bed) - she will go around the cage collecting everything I scatter and put it into her bowl.

My Peanut does exactly the same with her food bowl, she will collect all the scattered food, and then put it all in her food bowl.I though she was just crazy, its good to hear someone else's does this to.
