Thanks for your replies. I'm taking Zeus around to a neighbouring friend who children also have a hamster so no lonely time for Zeus and the adequate food and water! Thanks for your replies!

glad you got it sorted i left mine for 4 days whilst at uni, but my flatmates gave him fresh water and some food, im sure they probably got him out to play as well and didnt tell me lol.

i love the name Zeus, thats what i was going to name my new one because my first was called Hercules and was going to stick to the theme but decided on Melvin instead! haha xx

I'm glad you found a ham-sitter! Without someone to check on the little guy and change the water four days is a bit long.

idk how anyone can stand not seeing their hamster for more than 24 hours, I get too anxious and miss them

And I agree, Zeus is a good, strong name for a little boy

I don't change my hamster's water daily. Probably every three days... we've left our cat for five days. Although fresh water is preferred, as long as they have access to it and it's clean, I don't see a problem.

Then again, *I'll* drink water that's a couple days old and I don't taste a difference. Water doesn't go bad, I think it just tastes a little stale after a week.
