Aww, those two latest pics of Gimli are too precious! He is a real cutie pie. Sasha gave you excellent advice concerning the best food mix for dwarfs. I hope that you are able to get the Bunny Dwarf Hamster Dream Expert. That is supposed to be the top of the line and would be an excellent choice. All you will need to do is supplement it with a few mealworms. Best of luck.

Aww! what sweet photos, he looks & sounds really cute!
It's not a good idea to remove anything from the food as it will upset the nutritional balance & you won't really know what you ham is actually getting.
The foods Sasha mentioned are both good, if you're in the UK you can get the Burgess dwarf mix from most pet shops & the Bunny Dwarf Hamster Dream Expert mix from Zooplus, the Bunny Dwarf Hamster Dream Expert is probably the better of the two as it has more variety, it is a little low in protein for a young ham but a few mealworms will put that right.

Don't think I'll be able to get those food mixes. The shipping is as much as the mix. LOL Any Ideas on acceptable mixes in the US?

Cypher, so I should leave the corn in? I was trying to cut back on the sugars he is getting since it seemed like a lot in this mix. It is a cheap mix because I didn't know any better when we got it.

He did try some broccoli last night so I'll add that into his diet some too.

I know! The shipping is so expensive here! I’ll look for some foods right now.

There really aren’t that many great choices for a dwarf hamster here in the US lol! I don’t know if you have looked on amazon yet, but they do sell it. It is a bit pricey but will pay off in the long run knowing that your ham will be healthy eating this food. Maybe, if your neighbor, family member, friend etc. is traveling to the UK (or somewhere were they sell it) you could ask them to get you a 2 bags of Bunny if Burguess and bring it back for you. If your family, friend etc. is far away, they can mail it to you and I bet it will still be a lot cheaper.
Link to Burguess (they don’t ship Bunny to the US)

So, I loved the DIY thread and got inspired. Here are some pics of the play pen I made and some card board houses, an old mug, and a plastic container put to new use.

For now I wouldn't pick the corn out of the food you have, I do know how hard it is to find a good dwarf food in the US as most contain fruit & or sugars of some kind, I'm not as familiar as I was with US foods now & can't remember which if any may be suitable, sorry.
Some people order Burgess dwarf hamster harvest from Viovet, not sure how much delivery is to the US but you could order a few bags at once & keep them in the freezer.

The playpen looks good & Gimli looks to be having fun exploring there!
