That's good news, it could be he's been making noises as he explores his new cage & that's what you've been hearing, I hope he can settle in now & everything will be fine.
Emptying pouches when stressed is totally normal so don't worry about that, you should never try to empty them for him unless something is stuck or impacted in there.

Thanks you cypher for your replie! I didn’t see your replie until tonight for some reason. I think it is him making noise in his burrow, now that I listen very closely. But he is still making a clicking sound in his sleep. He has been enjoying his basil and lettuce daily and today he gets a small (very small) bit of strawberry. We made some progress with taming as he is not very frightened with me talking to him or me being there. Two days ago, he actually took lettuce from my finger! I know taming is a process and takes a while depending on the ham but, we are making progress so fast! I’m really proud of him! I was also wondering if oregano is safe for hamsters? I didn’t see it on your safe and unsafe food list. Thanks and have a lovely day/night!

Good to hear how well he's doing now, sounds as though he's really settling in. They do sometimes make noises in their sleep but if his breathing is normal when he's out & about that shouldn't be anything to worry about.
I have no idea about oregano tbh, it might be a bit strong anyway, I would try to give more different veg, broccoli is usually a big favourite & there are plenty more to try, lettuce is fine but I wouldn't give it every day.

Liberty is so handsome - I really like his name as it so unique but a perfect fit. I was worried when I heard you had concerns regarding his health but so great to hear that he was taken to the vets - I hope his breathing settles down once he fully adjust to his new home.

Some hamsters do squeak in their sleep whilst they are dreaming. So I wouldn't worry to much about it but just monitor him just to be on the safe side.

Looking forward to seeing more photos and hearing more about Liberty.

Thanks you cypher and SKB_Hamsters for your kind replies! We currently don’t have any broccoli on our hands but I’ll try to go to the store and get some this week. Liberty definitely suits him and Libby fits his personality! I was so happy and yesterday he took a bit of pasta from my fingers! Taming is going really well and I’ll update you all later.

Thank you Thin Lizzy for the replie! He is very gorgeous and he is doing much better with his breathing and noise in his burrow!
Yesterday night, Libby came out around 10:15 and saw me and was perfectly fine! I think he is finally done with the first step of taming! Sadly, he did get spooked when a family member entered my room and went back to sleep lol. I did give him a terracotta pot, cooled ceramic mug, and a sand bath! He seemed to like going to sleep in the terracotta pot! He loved the sand so much (so many little paw prints and seed shells) but I didn’t get to see his first reaction as I was asleep (it was 12:00). I’ll update you guys later on how he is doing!

Hey guys! Lot of progress has been made with Libby the past few days! He is very happy with taking food from my hand with no hesitation! He is a bit of a picky eater thought but, loves his fresh veggies and mealworms. Last night I gave him a small piece of celery (I made sure take the stringy part off so it doesn’t get stuck) and he took a tiny little bite and spit it right out lol! He also loves shoving his face in his sand bath for a few seconds then rolls! I don’t know what he finds so fun about it but he sure loves it! Yesterday, he was giving me a few nibbles but nothing bad. We also have started palm feeding and he just will sit in my hand and vacuum up all his flaxseeds (linseeds). When he is eating I will lift him up a couple of inches and he doesn’t even care! When he realizes he is up he doesn’t seem to mind and he is always happy to come up my hand and get lifted up! Today, I don’t know if I will be able to play with him as I have a very early day tomorrow and his sleep schedule is changing every day (he is kinda starting to wake up around 10:30 which isn’t bad). I’ll update you’ll soon!

Lovely to hear how well Libby is doing Sasha, sounds as though you're both having a great time together now, the bit about the celery did make me laugh
