Re: Spartacus and Snapdragon
We have already conversed on the other one, but Snappy and Sparky are gorgeous looking little things.
I'm sure they are going to keep you on your toes once they learn from the other three...!

Re: Spartacus and Snapdragon
Aww BP, I'm so happy for you and your partner's new additions to your hamily.
Spartacus & Snapdragon are so very cute and have melted my heart already. So looking forward to seeing these 2 little beauties progress.
I so love their names, so perfect.

Re: Spartacus and Snapdragon
Thank you so much everyone for Sparky and Snappy's warm welcome
They are still sleeping a lot during the day so I've not had much of an opportunity to see them until late at night. Snapdragon is always the first one out and will happily take a seed from your hand when it is in the cage so we're pleased he seems to be relaxing a bit with us.
Spartacus is so late at waking up that we've been trying to gently wake him up so we can interract with him but he just seems to be really cross when we do that and screeches at us to go away. I'm worried that as he is used to being handled and the fact that we seem to be struggling to handle him because he is being so screechy that he will get out of the way of being handled. I'm not really sure whether I should just pick him up or just leave him and go much slower? I've picked him up a couple of nights and he was ok when he was out but he wouldn't take any seeds from us and I feel like I'm maybe doing more harm than good. Anyway if anyone has some words of wisdom I'd be delighted to hear them
Here's a few more pictures of them

Re: Spartacus and Snapdragon
Snappy is just so sweet It's great to hear how well & how quickly he's settled in with you.
Sorry to hear little Sparky is still a bit screechy, I just love his expressions all the same bless him, I'm really falling for this little guy, I always have a bit of a soft spot for they shy ones
It's always hard to judge without actually seeing a ham as they are all so different but if he's been used to being handled & seems ok when you get him out I would continue to do that just for short periods, he certainly doesn't look terrified or anything in those photos.
I've only ever had one really screechy ham but he'd never been handled at all so I just went really slowly with him & didn't get him out until he was ready, I don't have any experience at all with breeder hams that have been handled & are maybe just slow to settle in a new home, I think it's generally best to persevere though unless you can see signs that it's making him more nervous.
Not sure if that helps or not really!

Re: Spartacus and Snapdragon
Awww BP what a couple of top class cuties you have there. Snappy and Sparky are set fair to become great favourites here. Sounds like Sparky needs a little more time to settle in a new home. Nothing to really worry about. Just a different personality.

Re: Spartacus and Snapdragon
It's nice that you can hold Snappy. I hope Sparky comes around to being handled too.

I'm in love! They are both so gorgeous.
Snappy looks so chilled and Sparky's got attitude lol!
You'll have Sparky eating out of your hands in no time.

Re: Spartacus and Snapdragon
Lovely photo of both Sparky and Snappy - I especially love the last photo of Sparky!
Its good that Snapdragon is happily taking seeds from your hand and I'm sure Spartacus will calm down and feel comfortable with taking treats from you soon.
