Default I'm a new hamster owner and I have lots of questions.

I recently bought a winter white a few days ago and I made my first mistake by handling her before she got used to her home. So heres my first question is there a way to fix that mistake. Now on to the second thing I built her a play thing out of the box that her cage is in and if I put her in it she will let me pet her and pick her up but she won't let me do in her cage unless she's in little burro box thing at the top of the cage. Thats the third thing when I put my hand in the cage she will she will some times fling her bedding at my hand does anybody have an idea to what that means. Also does anybody have any recommendations as a way to keep a cat away from my ham ham,s cage cuz my cat can jump onto the dresser were I have my ham ham at.

The tissue trick is a good idea to help her get familiar with your scent, stick some toilet tissue up your sleeve for a few hours then put it in her cage, if you can do this every day.

Some hamsters can be quite territorial in their cages which is usually why they sometimes won't let you pet them in their cage but are ok about it when they are out for playtime. They will usually climb into a mug or jar so you can lift them from the cage to the play area which makes taming easier.

The flinging bedding thing, is probably just her way of saying leave me alone. Mine do that to on occasion so I just let them be

I don't have a cat but there are people here who do and the best thing is to really keep your cat out of the room your hamster is in at all times. A cat is a predatory animal and it will probably stress your hamster out if it senses it.

I think BP just about covered it there, it sounds as though she's forgiven you for handling her too soon if she's ok in her out of cage box so I wouldn't worry about that, as BP says the tissue trick can really help with them adjusting to your scent & be less distressed by it in the cage.
I had a territorial female & it took time to get her used to my hands, I stuck with handling out of the cage for some time & only held my hand by the door for her to climb into when she wanted to come out rather than putting my hand directly into the cage & she was fine with that, over time she came to tolerate my hand in her cage once she was used to me.
I always advise to keep a cat out of the room where the ham is at all times, it just isn't fair to a ham to have a predatory animal anywhere near their cage & is very stressful for them.

The others have answered your questions I'd just add - go back to square one and leave her alone in the cage for 2 or 3 days to settle in, then start taming again gradually. It's better done out of the cage than in so she doesn't get stressed by your hand invading her territory. If she will hop into a box or mug, or something you can lift her out in safely, you could then put her in a playpen or the dry bathtub and gradually start handling/taming that way. Patience is the key though - it can take a bit of time and best not to rush it.
