Lizzy I know it's such a relief that she isn't drinking constantly! I don't see that much of her tho. Last night I stayed up till midnight as I drank too much caffeine. But I lifted her little wood bridge a little that she made a nest under and she looked up at me and wouldn't take a treat or come out of her nest. She just wanted to sleep. It's frustrating as she's my mystery hammy. I don't get to know her personality yet Hopefully that will change but if not at least she has a home.

I picked her out of a pile of sleeping hamsters. Think she was 3rd from the top lol

Lovely photo. Good to hear she is showing no signs of diabetes. Do you test her pee every so often?

I recently got a dwarf hybrid and wondered if I should test her sometimes or only test if she is drinking and peeing a lot.

I'd test her if she's drinking constantly or alot. If you can get her to pee in a place that's clean you can use Keto-Diastix strips to test, why not, I'd test the hybrids & Chinese but sometimes it's difficult to get urine samples. If your hammie is drinking alot & peeing alot then you would probably need to put her in a carrier or bin for 20 min to test.

Edit: she was up this morning so I'll post a pic later

Thank you. I haven't seen her drink or pee a lot, but wanted to check as I know a lot of people who have had dwarf hamsters with diabetes.

Looking forward to the picture.

Awww. I nearly got those type of log. They work well as a hide, bridge and step.

Does she look a little less chubby. I've taken away from seeds & meal worms. But she is stretching her body so it's probably a little hard to tell?

It's hard to tell. I am currently caring for my second dwarf hamster, so not sure what size would be normal/average and what would be chubby.

They can look different depending on if they are stretching, pancake ink or sitting. Today Willow was sitting, but still low to the ground. It made her look chubbier than normal.

A weigh in for Lilyana may help you decide.

Last time I weighed her she was about 80 gm, she doesn't like to go into cups which makes is hard to transport her, plus she's a sleeper. When I get a chance I'll have to weigh her to see if her diet is working. Might be awhile before the opportunity arrives to weigh the chubby little thing lol

Does she use a playpen? I put my scales in the playpen and while exploring, Willow climbs onto them. If she won't stay on long enough. I put some food/treats on the scale. Then reset the scales to 0.
