Re: Larry-Jasper's thread
Just a little update for Larry-Jasper.
He is thriving as always and remains a beautiful little sweetheart. He's been staying at my Mum's the last couple of weeks while my Dad is travelling for work. We have him for another week or so until he goes back to my Dad's.
Just finished having some play time with him. I'm not allowed to get toys out for him at my Mum's, but he did climb all over me while I fed him sunflower seeds (AKA his dream). He's started walking out onto my palm from his big travel cage. Unfortunately my phone had just died, so I didn't get any photos.
I hope to start showing him again soon. Fingers crossed he will be going to Chacombe on the 4th March with my Dad's girlfriend and her daughter. They might bring their Winter White Hybrid, Russell, but he is a Pets At Home ham so he can't really go in the main show and he has a habit of biting (NOT nipping) fingers so I don't think he'd manage the pet class either. I have a few questions about the classes and show pens, but I'll ask those sooner to the show.
I've got Larry-Jasper's birthday in a couple months time, so I'm excited to go present shopping for him. I'm not too sure what the budget will be, but I have my eye on a Leif house and maybe a few other toys (because a hamster can never have too many, unless you're my Dad, who thinks three boxes are too many).

Re: Larry-Jasper's thread
I love buying hamster stuff, I probably get more excited lol!
I've no doubt Larry-Jasper will charm the judges at the shows.

Re: Larry-Jasper's thread
Thanks Thin Lizzy
Jasper had broccoli this morning but I don't know if he's eaten it yet.

Re: Larry-Jasper's thread
It'll be fun going to the show Have you seen this Getzoo labyrinth house if you want a birthday present for him?!!! It's a nice layout. It costs a bit more than the Leif with the postage, but not a huge amount more. It comes to about £18.69 in Uk money, plus postage.

Re: Larry-Jasper's thread
Larry-Jasper had some orange Pepper for breakfast today (I do veggies in the morning so I can just take a chunk out of the piggies'). When he woke up, he had some seed treat mix. It's from Tesco and consists of sunflower hearts, linseed, sesame seeds and pumpkin seeds. Larry-Jasper loves all of them. We had our normal play time where he climbs on me. He's still a heartbreaker .

Yep! I love showing Larry-Jasper. Thanks for the house suggestion ! I will look into it, but my dad still hasn't forgiven me for my Christmas present import taxes (nail polishes and make up). I have bookmarked the page.

Re: Larry-Jasper's thread
Larry-Jasper is confirmed entered into the Chacombe show . I can't wait for this weekend!
He's booked into the vet for a nail trim on Wednesday. This will be the first time I've taken him to this vets. It's the recommended vet from Tufty Fluff hamsters, who is supposed to be amazing. I figured that it would be better to take him now to have them done for the show, because I know he will lose points. Also, I want to know what he'd be like at the vet (stress wise) for future notice, in case he is ill. It can't hurt to have a check up and nail trim. If it seriously stresses him out, I won't put him in the show.
Quick questions with nail procedure - what should I expect? Will he need a slight amount of anaesthetic to calm him? If he does, will he need any special treatment after (monitoring, meds, syringe food)? Never had anything like this, but I am seeing the practice partner, who has a special interest in exotics, so it should be good.
Had cuddles with Jasper earlier. He enjoyed some sunflower seeds. He is so cute!

Re: Larry-Jasper's thread
They don't exactly enjoy nail trimmings but it's a 2 person job, but it's over soon enough and the hammy has nice short nails. Not very stressful unless the hammy isn't used to being handled, then they might need awhile to themselves.
Larry Jasper should be a breeze (no anaesthetic needed)
