Re: Larry-Jasper's thread
Thank you guys ! I've seen Jas briefly tonight and he's didn't have any blood on him, so hopefully the UTI is clearing up.

Re: Larry-Jasper's thread
Yeah !
Right so tonight I am going on a school trip and I will be going away for around 2 and a half weeks. Unfortunately, I cannot guarantee I will be on the forum, as we are allowed very limited phone time, unless I secretly use my iPod on the wifi, which I don't want to do. The pets are all being taken care of, but I'd rather not be away from them . I get to see Hermes and Larry-Jasper this afternoon so I can say goodbye and obviously the I will see the piggies all day at my Mum's. If I can't go on the forum until I get back, then I hope everyone has a good two weeks in the meantime.

Re: Larry-Jasper's thread
I realise it's been a loooooong time since I've updated this thread lol.
Thank you to everyone who wished me a good trip. I really enjoyed it and had an unforgettable experience. I don't really want to go into much detail, as it was quite an emotional and spiritual trip (I attend a religious school, although I am not religious myself) but overall it was amazing. I got back around a week and a half ago, but I just haven't really felt up to coming on the forum, other than for a quick glance.
All the pets are very well . Hermes has grown a lot since I last saw him, and is now teething, as I learned after he bit a hole in one of my favourite tops. I got to dog sit him for a few days earlier on in the week. That dog has a LOT of energy and really tired me out lol. He is just over 13 weeks old now. He starts puppy training next week and has been fully vaccinated and has started training at home as well. He knows "sit" very well and we are practising "stay" with him, although that isn't going too well . I imagine he will learn "down" soon as well.
The piggies were happy to see me, and I was so excited to see them! I've never been away from home that long before, so it was so nice to see all my family and the pets again.
Jasper is doing well and has really enjoyed playpen time this week. I use the base of my old guinea pig cage, and although it isn't very tall, he isn't bothered about climbing out. I will admit I have spoiled him and Hermes and the piggies since I have been back, because I missed them so much. Jasper got some Crittertail tubes that were on clearance at my local pet shop (£10 for 10 pieces which I thought was a pretty good deal). Hermes has had a new teddy, some treats and a little bandana, it's a bit big at the moment (it threads onto the collar) but he will grow into it. The piggies got a new garland, on sale at P@H, as well as some wood chews and some petal mix (I have no idea what happened to the HUGE bag of forage I got for Pemba's birthday). They also got a 'Trio of Fun Balls' (Oreo's favourite ) and we have some spare carrot cottages for when Pemba destroys the current one lol.
Finally onto something a little more serious. My Dad is planning on moving in with his girlfriend into a new house which is MASSIVE. It is a beautiful house with enough space for a HUGE hamster cage, which would go outside my room (the room I want is separate to the rest of the house and has a large landing outside my room, which due to the way it is designed, would be difficult to actually use for anything and would therefore be a nice quiet place away from the dogs for Jasper). The downside is this house is very far away from where I live with my Mum and the area I call home. It's about 40 minutes with no traffic, so could easily be an hour long journey on a normal day. As a result, I doubt I would ever be able to stay there midweek, as I do at the moment to visit Jasper. This means I would see him for two days every two weeks, which is far from ideal. It's also ridiculously far away from the vet (the one I trust) meaning a very long drive if god forbid Jasper needed to see an emergency vet. Now when I have spoken to my Mum about this (in private) she has said Jasper can live with us, permanently, in his Ikea Billy. The downside is, I would have far less storage for hamster toys (and Jasper has a LOT) and I would need to pay for food and bedding with my pocket money (not the end of the world), as I doubt my Dad would contribute and my Dad would need to pay for any vet bills. Now I know this sounds like a no-brainer, but if Jasper was to stay with my Dad, he could have a much bigger cage (I'm looking at the Ikea Linmon cage) which I'm sure he'd like, but he wouldn't be able to have playtime very often. My Dad's girlfriend's daughter (who would also be living there) has a Russian hamster as well, but I don't trust her to play sensibly with Jasper, as her own hamster is very vicious (it's not him personally, as he used to be very tame) and I don't want the same to happen to my beautiful Jasper. Ultimately, it is my decision, but I would love to hear your opinions on this, as I'm struggling to decide what's more important: being close to a vet, having regular interaction and playtime with Jasper or if space is better. If Jasper moves to the new house, I would also be allowed to get another hamster, which as much as I'd love, I have to put Jasper's needs before my own, in this situation. I would like to add that the move is not definite, but highly likely. Thanks
I guess that concludes my updates. I might create a new thread about the last part, so I can keep all the responses together.
