Re: Chloe Rose Petal - my WW hammie
Wow at being almost 3. She doesn't look her age, maybe it's a dwarf thing, about always looking young and of course beautiful.

Re: Chloe Rose Petal - my WW hammie
Will be interesting to see how old she will get? Would be great if she lives past 3 yrs
Update: bought her banana & sweet potato baby food. So far I gave her the banana & she took a couple licks, but of corse Lilyanna loves it. Dakota ate some too but not as much as Lilyanna.
I weighed Chloe & she's 31-32 gm, she was 30 gm so that's good that she is getting food she needs in spite of her elderly limitations

Re: Chloe Rose Petal - my WW hammie
Here's a video that I made of Chloe from last night. She went to super weak to super energetic in one day. I gave her a water bowl cause she was too weak to use the water bottle??

Re: Chloe Rose Petal - my WW hammie
Some days they're more energetic than others. There will be days where their arthritis is so bad they don't leave their nests, while there will also be days where they'll have no trouble at all getting up and exploring. Cherish all the time you have with her- 3 years is very old for a hybrid

Lol! Chloe made me giggle lots, she's so fast and I love her energy, for a 3 year old. I loved how she would stop, listen to you encouraging her and then continue.

Re: Chloe Rose Petal - my WW hammie
Thanks Drago & Lizzy, she hasn't done that since she was real young. She might run like this at night. But when I made the video she had been running off & on all day. Took this in the evening sometime when she's usually fast asleep She seems to be her normal self so far so good, fingers crossed she'll be around for a little longer still?
Edit: Chloe is blind & deaf

Wow! In the video, when you were talking, it really looked like when she stopped a couple of times and it looked like she heard and saw you.
Chloe always amazed me before but, knowing that she's truly magnificent, I love her even more.

Re: Chloe Rose Petal - my WW hammie
Thanks Drago & BP, she doesn't seem to know when I'm near her when my hand is in the cage, unless I let her smell my scent. Then she gets all excited & jumps in my hands. I've snapped my fingers several times behind her ears & no response. I could be wrong but she may just have instincts that I was there as my hand was in the tank after letting her pick up my scent.
She ran again last night & I wasn't near her cage? I thought she knew her name when she was younger if that's possible?

Re: Chloe Rose Petal - my WW hammie
I don't personally think hamsters have the brain capacity to actually know their names- nor truly understand human language. They do however, pick up on intonation and recognize patterns. So in a way, they somewhat do know when you're addressing them
She could also be reacting to vibrations she's feeling that indicate you're approaching. She's a real sweetheart
