My Russian Romans
These are my new little hams! The shelter said they are around two years old. Which would mean they are pretty old though they don't act it, so I'm hoping they still have a while to enjoy life yet
They look like winter whites in colouring (at least to my untrained eye?), but I would guess they are partially hybrids so no sugar or fruit for them. I have virtually no history on them or where they came from, only that they were brothers surrendered together.
The little guy in the wheel is Remus, and the one in my sister's hand is Romulus. Remus is a bit heavier (though not dangerously so), and loves eating. He's a bit more calm. Romulus is the feistier ham, constantly on the run and trying to get a break to freedom. They were both already incredibly tame when I adopted them, happy to take treats from anyone and run all over you. They lick more than nibble, which is just so precious <3 For my first foray into hamsters, I think they are the perfect little guys!

Re: My Russian Romans
Hi hamsofrome, good on you for giving Remus & Romulus a home. They don't look 2 years old, so fingers crossed they're with you for a long time.
Both so gorgeous!

Re: My Russian Romans
Hello Remus & Romulus
Congrats on your two gorgeous new hams hamsofrome, it's lovely that they have a new home with you especially given their age, if they really are about 2 they're looking really good for their age!

Re: My Russian Romans
Thank you!
Yes I'm hoping they were wrong about their age. I have no idea whether that was information from their previous owner or if the shelter just made a guess. They are still speedy and bright so they don't seem old! But even if they don't have long left, I wanted to give them a home rather than have them spend their last months in the stress of a shelter.

Re: My Russian Romans
What pretty lads they are! Always nice to hear about adoption hamsters as they are always deserving of a loving home, especially the older generation! They certainly don`t look their age so I would tend to be open minded on that. I never let age or temperament cloud my judgement when rehoming a hamster. They usually turn out fine and just want their home comforts and a cosy nest. x

Re: My Russian Romans
Thanks guys! They seem to be settling well and enjoying their home. I'm working on their stocking now, some nice little treats for them to unwrap
Here's a pic of them just waking up, the sillies fell asleep in their wheel together! Usually they burrow in their bedding, but I guess they like to test out all possible napping spots
