Glad to hear he is improving. Is his skin any better as well and no pain? He's had aucky escape and I'm glad he's doing well.

His skin seems better, although he is scratching and biting a lot now.

Is it more than the normal grooming routine? I guess his skin could still be aggravated - I wonder if there is something that could soothe it - it might be worth a checkover at the vets.

Good to hear he is doing ok. By scratching and biting do you mean biting himself? That does sound like the poor thing is suffering some irritation. I agree maybe a phone call to the vet to see if something like aloe Vera is ok? He will ingest some so it needs to be edible. Xx

Cujo is going to the vet very soon, putting in a phone call soon. He's not only grooming a *lot* more than normal, (he's scratching and biting as he's walking. Everytime he stops, he's rolling while scratching, biting and chewing), not only that, but he's got a lump on his paw that's not going away, looks like he's broken his leg, but it doesn't seem to bother him the way a broken leg would. He steps on it, but he's using his other paw more. I'm keeping a **VERY** close eye on him, the call will probably be made tomorrow morning sometime.

Hello Cujo (human). I just returned to HC after about a month. I read this thread and the one about what happened to Cujo. First, if anyone does anything to Cujo like this again you CALL the police. Second, if Cujo is still having trouble over this as you state, he needs to see a vet now. It sounds like it is really bothering him with all the biting and scratching he's doing. If he has broken his leg, if the skin isn't broken it will heal on its own. But a vet could still help by giving him some pain meds. Also, a lump doesn't necessarily mean he's broken his leg. It could be a growth. It should be checked out by a vet. Cujo has had a difficult life so far and he really needs medical support.
As far as the person who did this is concerned, it doesn't matter to me if the cage had lice, fleas, whatever, actually being seen. No on has the right to put anything in Cujo's cage without your permission. Glad you have put a lock on the door.
Truthfully, even though Cujo doesn't seem to be fussed about going outside, it isn't good for him to be traveling around, especially as he's got some medical stuff going on. Hamsters, as prey animals, don't always show pain. In order for him to heal well he needs quiet and rest. You also are running a really big risk having him out of his cage in the stores. If he ever got out of your hands you could lose him in such a big environment, or he could get stepped on. This little furry has had way too much happen to him in his short life.

I know, it's been a while. But here we go. The growth on cujos right paw has disappeared and reappeared on his left paw. But otherwise he is doing fine. Right now he is staying with my good friend Ryan, who is taking excellent care of him (I've visited every day and played with cujo to make sure he's alright) while we are having our bathroom remodeled. It is very noisy so that's why I decided to ask my friend to watch him. Wondering if the lumps are caused my him biting himself?

I don't know about the bump, if it was a bite it would seem strange to me if it reappeared in exactly the same place? Is it red and irritated or just a lump? Hard or soft?

Did you manage to get him to a vet. I don't like to think about him suffering with his skin aggravating him all the time. I think he really needs some medical treatment.

I would seek some advice from a vet, weird how it's gone from one paw to another.
That's great you've got Cujo staying with your friend. Getting work done about the house can be very disruptive and unsettling.
How's things been with that housemate?
