Re: Cujo's Thread
So, here's an update. Cujo has reached a very big milestone. And I couldn't be more thrilled with my little one. We have been diligently working and training hard these past few days, and Cujo, will now let me pick him up, he will sit in the palm of my hand, he like to crawl up my arm, and he will even let me turn him over on his back for a few seconds! Again, I couldn't be more thrilled, many many pics are to come. Today Cujo and I are going shopping at the store for some new toys and chews!

Re: Cujo's Thread
It's wonderful when you get there isn't it? Well done! Especially when he was a hamster who had been labelled a bit aggressive and untameable!

Re: Cujo's Thread
Little Cujo is adorable. Kudos for adopting a special-needs hammy and congratulations on your taming progress!
The first picture of him in the ball kind of looks like he's giving "the bird."

Re: Cujo's Thread
Yesterday cujo just seemed to have an 'off' day, couldn't handle him and when I put my hand in for him to sniff, he bit though the top of my knuckle, yes, I said through. So I left him alone. Today has been much better. So I'm thinking his bar chewing is his sign for attention. He wants to come out, he wants to play. He seems almost eager to follow my hand and when I take him out to play (got a large box from a friend, it works perfect for a play area) I will tap twice on something, the floor of the box, the top of a toy, something, somewhere, he runs over to investigate, he will sniff my finger, sniff the spot I tapped, will nose around or go inside whatever I tapped on. When we went shopping the other day, we got a puzzle playground. Still looking at cages. Want to get the Grey and blue 3 level cage made by all living things. Only problem is I won't be able to connect anything to it, but it has plenty of space. Still would like to make a bin cage, but I might have to hold off on that. Would love to get him the dual level critter trail and the extreme challenge habitats and link all three together with tubes. But that's a bit pricey. Decisions decisions. Whenever I go to the store and bring cujo, I'm so proud of him because he let's me show him off to the employees who watched him when he was there. It's so awesome, I take him out of his carrier and their eyes got so wide and they were all so happy that he's become so nice and handleable. I have figured out that he has what seems to be anxiety over thunderstorms. I live in Florida and whenever thunder rumbles, he comes out and runs around and squeaks and just goes crazy climbing everywhere, on everything. Peeing everywhere as well. I'll have to figure something out to make him more comfortable. On my wishlist:chinchilla sand and the ceramic bath house for hamsters, bendy log bridge, apple/wood hanging chew toy. When i cleaned out his cage, i had put him in his carrier and tried to figure out how to make him a 'second level' it didnt work out sadly. I can't find my laptop charger and the laptop is dead, so pics will have to wait for now. Lots of them in my phone waiting.

Re: Cujo's Thread
I think most animals get scared by Thunderstorms - poor Cujo. Sometimes going to shops makes you see all kinds of nice things and want all kinds of things - so much temptation! I should just focus on making a bin cage or something for now. Cages with levels aren't good for dwarf hamsters, it can make them more territorial and crittertrails aren't a great size for floorspace. Also have a look out on ebay and locally for second hand fish tanks - they make a great habitat.
I'm not sure taking him out places is a good idea really - he's probably best in his cage (or do you mean showing the staff photos?)
Anyway he seems to coming along nicely!
