Shall I split up the twins?
I've only had the twins for 3 weeks and have noticed about a week ago that one of them is fatter than the other, I've noticed he's the dominant one and hes usually the one who I see in both food bowls, the other doesn't look deprived of food or anything but I've started scatter feeding just in case, but do you think it's best to just split them up in separate cages?

If they seem to be getting on OK & not fighting at all you could leave them for a while & see how it goes but scatter feeding is probably essential if one is that much more dominant.

I agree with Cypher. If there's no fighting then there's no need to separate them.

Re: Shall I split up the twins?
He might appear fatter if he's just been eating and his pouches are full. My two boys live together but they have completely different body shapes, one is longer and slimmer looking and his face looks quite mouse like and the other is smaller and plumper and his face reminds me of a hedgehog lol . If they're not fighting and otherwise happy I'd personally keep them together, but if it's bothering you you could always just separate them.

Re: Shall I split up the twins?
Ok I've decided to keep them together for now and just keep monitoring them, I noticed today the smaller one was on the others back and it seemed he was grooming him? Other times he would run off if the bigger one even come near him, no signs of serious fighting (fingers crossed)

Re: Shall I split up the twins?
They could be playing, sounds stupid but my hamsters play what looks like tag with each other, they'll run on the wheel together (they have 2 btw), then jump off and run around and one follows the other, then they'll catch up and change directions and run back onto the wheel. They never squeak or bite each other though, just harmless playing
