Re: Meet little Yuki
She tends to freeze a lot. More than Nyla and Suki combined. Last time she has done it, a thunder storm has just begun so I don't know if that had anything to do with her freezing.
She has days where she runs away from me in her little house, but other days as soon as she sees me she jumps on the cage bars and just follows me around
I guess it's her own personality where one day she really likes me and wants me to play with her and other day she just wants to be left alone.
Here's a pic of her being frozen.

Re: Meet little Yuki
I did and am still doing Xmass themed hamster photos inspired with this month's competition theme.
I will start publishing from the 1st of December on hamsterography so if anyone's interested to see them I'd be extremely happy
Yuki's such an active hamster, but also tends to freeze a lot. My little weirdo :]

Re: Meet little Yuki
To be absolutely honest I don't know. She's a pet shop hamster and they are probably all hybrids, but someone pointed out to me that her ear piercing might be a "breed stamp" but then again it might have been an accident.
I am really bad with recognizing if a hamster is a winter white or Campbells, but she's completely white and doesn't change colour.

Re: Meet little Yuki
Heh, I asked because, like me, you live in a place where unusual things happen
Hamsters aren't such a big business, that sometimes we find what is unusual in the US or the UK .....
I think the WWs change color though....she's beautifully fluffy white !
cheers

Re: Meet little Yuki
Oh my god I love that frozen pose I've looked at your hamsterography photos too by the way, they're amazing! I'll have to keep checking at it to see more pictures over December, but you take such good photos of your hamsters I'm jealous!

Re: Meet little Yuki
Me too - I've looked at your site too - the pics are great. I'm jealous too. Many years ago I used to be a bit of a published photographer - in the days of darkrooms. But I was never very good with studio type things. Makes me want a camera with a fast shutter speed and a fast lens!

Re: Meet little Yuki
Thank you! I'm still learning myself. The photos of my first hamster are so to say terrible because I had no idea what I was doing back then. I've realized I need to take more Xmass themed photos because I don't have as much and I'm very impatient so I'll probably publish them all way before Christmas xD
I love being in the darkroom and developing either negatives or positives. I've only tried once to take hamster photo with my old analog camera, but that didn't go very well because I have no flash for it and the focus is manual...

Re: Meet little Yuki
I've noticed that Yuki's belly tends to have sort of bald spots, but she has those ever since I've gotten her. Some days it's really poorly covered in fur, two days after fur has started to grow back and so it goes in circles. Her skin seems normal and not irritated at all and she has no mites. I've rubbed her bald spots (when she has those) in olive oil and I'm not sure if it helps or not. Could it just be that she's simply like that with fur cause she doesn't seem so be bothered with it and she's not scratching her belly. Her wheel is the sight size so it's also not a problem. And just to be clear it's her belly only, mostly her chest actually.
Anyway, I also have a DeviantArt page if anyone is still using it after that horrible change they've made... terenete (Azula TisiZla) - DeviantArt
