Question Bin Cage

What would the smallest bin cage size for a pair of WW be? I've been thinking about getting a pair for a while now, although my parents say I have to wait for one of my other dwarfies to pass on

60 x 30 x 23-25 cm (L x W x H) for one WW, but for two 50 x 40 x 40 cm Hope this helps!

I would say bigger more about 60 by 40 by 40 bigger is always better, My pair of campbells live in a 2ft by 1 1/2 ft by 1 1/2 ft vivarium and i would say this is just big enough.

You're better off just buying a wham 110L bin, this is around 80x40cm and easy to get hold of. If you're looking specifically for WW's you will need to research and find a good breeder who can prove their family line, a lot of WW's sold now are actually hybrids and these have special dietary requirements and a risk of neurological problems. You also need to be aware that they may end up fighting and need to be split, would your parents accept the fact that you will need to buy two cages, wheels ect. If not I would suggest you go with just one from the start, they can be just as happy.

A good idea is to get two bins that can be connected by tunnels. This way, the hamsters get more space to explore, but in the event that the do start squabbling, you could remove the tunnels and have them as separate cages.
If buying two WW, make sure that are from the same litter and have grown up together. Sometimes breeders will just take a selection from different litters and ship them off together. This drastically increases the chance of fighting, as they will very rarely accept another hamster that it is not familiar with.
Also, two males are less likely to fight than a pair of females, as the shes are more territorial.

As long as they are related, and have plenty of room to establish themselves in the enclosure and get away from the other if they want to, they should be fine. More space is always better.

I thought it was 70cm by 40cm for pairs?
And Munchalot using tunnels between cages increases the risk of pairs falling out so is not a good idea.

I meant as a stacking system, so one cage sits on top of the other with a network of tunnels and ladders.
I understand bigger cages with sections causes some animal to establish their own territories, so yes. But if each tank was of simple size?

And thats just as bad. Levels are also dangerous with pairs or groups. It doesn't matter how big or small each tank is it will still encourage territorial behaviour.

Fair enough. I'll take that on board.
I've only ever kept WW as singles, so it's gaining perspective.
