New To The Site
Just wanted to say hello. I'm the owner of three Dwarf Winter White Russian Hamsters. Two male, one female and I have them separated according to sex in two cages. Their names are Anastasiya, Nikolai, & Vladimir. I got the boys first and Anastasiya today. Since they're a Russian or partially Russian breed, that it'd be nice to give them Russian names. Anyway, those are my hamsters. They're all about a few months old. Maybe two. Looking forward to getting to know other DWWR owners.

Re: New To The Site
I'll post a pic or two as soon as I can get my camera to work. One of the males and the female look the same (gray). The other male is a light tan.

Re: New To The Site
Welcome! Can't wait to see pictures of your Winter Whites! So many people are fond of the WW species, but my heart lies with the Campbell's.
I honestly hate the word Djungarian. There are no accurate sources that I've been able to find on Djungarian. There are Winter Whites and there are Campbell's. They're both native to pretty much the same territories. The word Djungarian is often used to refer to BOTH species because at one point in time these two species were thought to be the same species. It drives me nuts. I don't trust any sources like Wikipedia and personal care sites. From what I've seen, lot of sites suggest Djungarian is one or the other, or both. On forums, people usually stick to calling them WW and Campbell's. Do you know of any reliable sources on the word Djungarian? I would love to get to the bottom of the confusion LOL I generally avoid the word altogether, myself xD

Not the most tactful of comments as the username of the person starting the thread is Djungari!
Anyway, welcome to you Djungari and look forward to seeing photos soon of your Winterwhites.
Are you based in the UK and if not where are you based/

Re: New To The Site
The only source I know of is Peter Simon Pallas who named the species. Plus the place I got them calls them Djungarian. I'm just quoting where I've seen the word used. At the time I created this id, I didn't know WW & Djungarians were the samething. Plus I think it's kind of original for a forum. Anyway, I'm based in the US. PA, to be exact. I'll have pics as soon as I can get my camera to work.
