Jan Is Now 2 Years & 9 Months Old

Well I thought I would give a update on this little love.

We have had a exciting month!.

Jan woke up two week's before Christmas & proudly presented me with a closed left eye. On further investigation she had the infection back that she had in the summer. So two week's of cream in her eye twice a day. Which Jan liked to spread from her eye, down the side of her face if Mummy was not quick enough with the mealworms to keep her paws busy until the cream went clear

Luckily touch wood the eye infection has gone again.

Then we had the weight loss, she went smaller over night & now only weighs 38g.

Then we had the wobbly legs start. At first I thought it was the wobbly legs they get when they are near the end of life so went all through the grief of think she did not have long left, but after a week she was still Jan wobbling around her tank & enjoying her self even running a little on her wheel. On watching her closer her legs seem stiff & I now believe she has Arthritis in her legs.

She is up every day, asking to come out for time with me & treats, she is eating & drinking well & wee, & poo's. She is playing in her tank, chewing the dozen or so toilet roll's she won't let me take out & would you believe still doing a couple of laps on her wheel!.

She now just does it all wobbling!

Here is a short video of Jan taken tonight. Her latest trick is putting her two paws up onto the edge of the shelf above & waiting for Mummy to lift her up there which can be as many as 6 times a day

Thanks, Silver, that link worked and I can now see Jan and not just a red Oxo box!

It was worth the wait - she is as adorable as ever and incredibly active and got up on to her shelf so well. Still pretty nimble on her old legs. Great video. Great age.

I can't believe that little lady is that old! She's still active and curious and bouncing all over. You're doing all the right things for that hamster to be in such great shape. There's a hamster with a fabulous life. What a cutie.
